Hello summer!

Summer is here! That long awaited for time of year where it is hotter, more people are out and about, and some of us have more time with our children. What a blessing, right?!

For those of you spending the summer with your kiddos, there are two different feelings. YAY and OH CRAP, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THEM?

Here are some ideas for keeping yourself and your kids occupied and sane this summer....

  1. Get outside: I have said this before and I will say it again, nature is healing to our minds and bodies. So go on a walk, take the kids to the park, find a community pool or a friends pool, drive up to the mountains for some fresh air, and breathe it in.

-Helpful tip: Kids will complain of boredom, so give them a goal or a game when out. Find certain things in nature, play I spy.... the more you engage, the less they will rage.

2. Phone a friend. I can almost guarantee that out there is another mom who would love to chat and talk to you while your kiddos play together. So don't stay home alone, pick up the phone and invite someone else to join you.

3. Cook/Bake. Kids love learning new things. So go to the grocery (you have to anyway) and let them pick out something to cook/bake. Help them select the ingredients and have a little chef party in your kitchen.

4. Free Stuff! Look online or in the newspaper (yes they still exist) for local free community events. There are sports activities, movies in the park, and sometimes free camps at local churches.

5. Dollar Store Crafts. Pinterest has a million ideas of cheap crafts to do with your kiddos. Involve them in the shopping, lay out a table cloth or trash bag, and let them get creative.

Have fun!
